Tommy and I had the BEST honeymoon ever!!! We went down to Ixtapa in Zihuatanejo. It’s in deep Mexico, about 3 hours away from Acapulco. It was so nice to relax after a crazy year of wedding planning. We laid on the beach every day with a bucket a beers, ate the freshest ceviche, and swam in crystal clear water. If you guys are ever looking for a romantic getaway, I would highly recommend looking into Ixtapa. It’s so lush and tropical and the weather is perfection!
The first half of the trip we stayed at these amazing suites on the beach. Our hotel had it’s own private jacoozi and was steps from the beach. There were massages down on the beach for twelve American dollars. Waves crashing in the background with a warm tropical breeze. Lets just say I got 6 massages! This charming fishing village is called “La Madera.” It is outside of Ixtapa. It was very quaint and had a really fun town loaded with shopping and amazing restaurants. We ate, ate, and ate some more! We went fishing one day, just Tommy, myself, and our guide who didn’t speak any English. (He was amazing!) We caught yellowtail and saw turtles. It was beautiful and the highlight of our trip. Our guide took our fresh fish we caught to a chef on an island, where he prepared fresh ceviche, grilled, fried, any style you wanted. It was incredible!
The second place we stayed is on the outskirts of Ixtapa (the actual town is very touristy) It was called Capella. It was such treat to stay at this fancy hotel. We drank basil, jalapeno margs, laid by the pool and did a whole lot of nothing! This hotel had some of the most authentic Mexican food I have ever had. Our room at this hotel had its own private mini pool too! We felt so spoiled! Here are some photos of our trip! Enjoy
