After a long week of working, do know what the absolute best thing in the world is?? Getting an hour long foot massage. And I’m not just talking about a little rubby rub, but the most incredible stress/tension relieving foot massage ever!
Chinese foot reflexology has been around since ancient times. Like Egyptian’s were rubbing each other’s feet in cave carvings. I discovered foot reflexology when I was in college and have been a huge fan ever since. In fact, I went last night and it makes a huge different in the way you feel. I can honestly feel the energy flow and stress leave my body. It’s amazing!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with foot reflexology, let me get ya up to speed.
Foot reflexologists apply pressure to specific areas in the hands, feet, and ears that affect certain reflex areas of the body. Imagine that there is a connection between zones of your feet and hands that represent certain areas of your body that can be adjusted or managed through these zones. A lot of the theory behind reflexology has to do with aligning your qi.
Foot reflexology is effective in bringing about a deep state of relaxation. The solar plexus is the nerve center where stress is stored. When the solar plexus reflex point is pressed, it is as if all of the stress in the body is eliminated. Because stress can greatly affect the immune system and leave one vulnerable to serious illnesses such as cancer, it is important to relieve it.
Some of the benefits of reflexology include its ability to stimulate nerve function, increases energy, boosts circulation, induces a deep state of relaxation, eliminates toxins, stimulates the central nervous system, prevents migraines, cleans up urinary tract conditions, speeds recovery after injury or surgery, helps relieve sleep disorders, reduces depression, and relieves pain. It can also help ease the treatment of various cancer and even helps to soothe the pains of pregnancy, even those occurring after the baby is born.
I found a great place in Oceanside for all you North County babes. It’s called “Pure Massage” and 60 mins is $25. So cheap! I usually like a male to do my massage, their hands are just a stronger and bigger and they really get into all those pressure points. If I wasn’t with Tommy, I would highly consider dating one of these men! haha
If you work a job on your feet, nurse, teacher, construction, etc., it’s great for reducing swelling and inflammation.
My mom got Tommy and I gift cards for Christmas, and Tommy LOVED it! He was very apprehensive at first, but loved every second of it. Most cities have foot reflexology spas, so look in your area! I hope you go into the weekend relaxed and centered!
XO, Melissa ♥
